Today, after Justin went to work, I had the chance to sit down and reflect on 2018. Time goes by so fast these days and 2018 was no different. It’s hard to believe it’s already New Year’s Eve and in just a few short hours a new year will be dawning. I’m thankful for a new year – new chances, new goals, new possibilities, new hope.
When I think back on 2018, lots of moments stand out to me. But some important moments I had forgotten about. Honestly, it’s been a year of ups and downs, but through it all God has continued to pour blessings on our family.
- 2018 began with the good news that our Home Study had been approved and we were officially announced as a “Waiting Family!”
- In January, with your help and #WeHelpTwo, we were able to donate a box of warm socks to help feet stay a little bit warmer during the winter.
- We stepped out in faith and held one of our favorite and most popular fundraisers – Egg My Yard! (We’ve actually already been asked if we’re doing this again! The answer is YES!)
- We sold jewelry, Blessed Mama t-shirts, sold furniture, clothes, decor, etc., had 3 yard sales, a coworker sponsored ‘Cards for a Cause,’ and we wrapped Christmas gifts, all to help us get one step closer to meeting our baby.
- Justin was called to active duty from February to June. And while we were separated from each other for 1/3 of 2018, God was truly taking care of us in our surprise situation.
- We received TWO adoption grants!
- My sweet forever friend, Melissa, hosted REFIT® for a Reason: Benefit for Baby Bullock class!
- Justin started a new job at the end of October. Truly a gift from God!
- We are so, so close to completing our Puzzle Fundraiser! Only

This makes us ready for 2019, the year we hope to bring our sweet baby home.
It’s crazy to look back on all that happened in 2018. When we think not much is happening, we are so wrong. God is working on our behalf!
At the end of 2018…
- our faith is stronger than we ever thought
- trust comes more easily
- hope abounds
- words can’t seem to express the thankfulness our hearts feel
- waiting is hard
- the love we have for our baby multiples with each day
- we can see God alive and working
- patience is still something we’re learning
- God has been faithful, so very faithful
- joy and excitement grow each day
- our birth mother, although we haven’t met yet, continues to teach us about unconditional love and bravery
- encouragement is valued
- the kindness and goodness of others overwhelms us
- we believe God uses strangers to touch and encourage hearts
- we KNOW beautiful things are on the horizon
- and NOTHING is coincidental!!
